This
disease infects directly to skin and some forms can affect the lungs,
joints, bones, and even the brain. Because roses can spread the disease,
it is one of the few diseases referred to rose – thorn disease.
People
handling roses are at increased risk of getting Sporotrichosis. Out
breaks have occurred among nursery workers, rose gardeners, greenhouse
workers, and children playing in the garden areas.
The
fungus enters the skin through small cuts or punctures from thorns and
spreads from person to person.
The
first symptom is usually a small painless bump resembling an insect
bite. It can be red, pink, or purple in color
